Summary
GeoTag Video does not collect, transmit or share any personal data with the developer, with third parties or with any external server, on any of the platforms it's available on (iOS, macOS, Android). The app does not integrate any analytics, tracking, advertising tools or advertising identifiers. No account creation is required. The one exception, optional and described further below, is the "real map" flight path style (new in 1.8), which downloads map imagery from Apple on iOS/macOS and from OpenStreetMap on Android.
Which files the app reads
GeoTag Video accesses only the folders the user manually selects through the operating system's selection panels (sandbox on iOS and macOS, Storage Access Framework on Android). The app does not autonomously explore other areas of the device, does not access the Photos/Gallery library or other personal data, and does not request location permissions through the device's location services.
How location data is handled
The GPS coordinates read from the drone's .SRT telemetry files are written only into the metadata of the generated video copy, saved locally in the destination folder chosen by the user. This location data is never sent, synced or shared with external servers, cloud services or third parties: it stays exclusively on the user's device, under their control.
Real map style (new in 1.8)
For the flight path map, besides the isometric style (always offline, drawn only from the .SRT file's data) an optional "real map" style is available, which shows the path over a map with streets and points of interest. On iOS and macOS, when enabled, the app downloads map imagery for the flown-over area from Apple's servers (via the MapKit framework), through an anonymous request that includes no user or app identifier. On Android, the same feature uses a different source — see the dedicated section below. On every platform this request only happens when the real map style is actively selected by the user: with the isometric style (the default) the app makes no network connection at all.
Android version
GeoTag Video is also available for Android, with the same philosophy as the iOS and macOS versions: entirely local processing, no account, no data collection. A few technical details differ because of platform APIs, described below.
File access on Android
The app uses the system's Storage Access Framework: you pick, every time, the source and destination folder through Android's native file picker. The app does not request or use any broad storage permission on the device.
Real map on Android: OpenStreetMap
Unlike the iOS/macOS versions (which use Apple's MapKit), on Android the "real map" style downloads map imagery from OpenStreetMap's public servers, through requests that include only the coordinates of the map tiles needed (no user or device identifier). This request is governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy, an entity independent from us. On Android too, with the isometric style (the default) the app makes no network connection at all.
Permissions requested on Android
- File and folder access — to select, through the system picker, the source and destination folder.
- Internet — used only if you enable the "real map" style described above. Not needed for any other feature of the app.
- Notifications — to notify you locally when a batch of videos finishes processing; you can deny it without losing any other feature.
Processing history on Android
As on the other platforms, a local log of processing runs (file names, date, outcome) stays only on the device, is never transmitted, and can be cleared at any time from the "History" screen in the app.
Sharing with third parties
GeoTag Video does not share any data with third parties, simply because it does not collect or transmit data. No third-party SDKs, advertising services or analytics platforms are integrated.
Data retention
Since no data is collected or transmitted, there is no retention of personal data by the developer. Processed files remain solely in the folders chosen by the user on their own device.
Children
GeoTag Video is not directed at a children's audience and does not knowingly collect data relating to minors.
Changes to this policy
Any changes to this policy will be published on this page with an indication of the update date. Continued use of the app after a change implies acceptance of the new version of the policy.
